• Children of all ages may benefit from pediatric physical therapy. Physical therapy helps infants reach age appropriate milestones like rolling, sitting, standing, or walking.

Physical therapy helps toddlers run, jump, climb stairs, and so much more!

Physical therapy is especially beneficial for children who have neurological, genetic, or orthopedic diagnoses that make gross motor skills harder for them.

Early intervention through pediatric physical therapy can have a significant impact on a child’s long-term physical abilities, independence, and quality of life. It also empowers caregivers with strategies and tools to support their child’s development at home.

  • Children of all ages may benefit from occupational therapy. Infants may benefit from help developing skills like reaching, grasping, rolling, sitting, and so much more.

Toddlers may benefit from occupational therapy to improve ability to respond to sensory input, follow routines, regulate emotions, and so much more.

Children who have difficulty with motor skills or regulation techniques due to orthopedic, neurological, or genetic diagnoses will especially benefit from occupational therapy.

It is never too early to start occupational therapy, earlier intervention can mean shorter treatment duration over time.

Consultations

Consultations are completed via phone call. Consultations help answer your questions regarding treatment frequency, duration, options for intensives,  rates,  etc.

Initial evaluations

Initial Evaluations are 60 minutes - this includes taking a detailed social and medical history, as well as objective measures. I will then provide you with a simple home exercise program to get you started until we can build upon this program at your follow up treatments. An initial evaluation is required before follow up treatments. All initial evaluations are completed in home.

Follow Up Treatments

Follow Up Treatments may include any combination of the following interventions: manual therapy, body work, strengthening exercises, neuromuscular re-education, transfer training, gait training, wheelchair training, home exercise practice, etc. All therapy appointments are in home.

Dynamic Movement intervention (DMI)

Utilizes dynamic exercises developed by Jake Kreindler M.Sc.PT and Jo-Anne Weltman B.Sc. PT, MRSc to improve postural righting and balance reactions while providing significant vestibular and proprioceptive input that helps train the neuromuscular system. Used with pediatric patients only.

Infant Bodywork

Use of hands on techniques to calm your child’s emotional state, release fascial tension, and improve function.

Task Specific E-Stim (TASES)

Utilizes electrical stimulation to activate muscles that are weak or do not activate appropriately during functional activities.

Purposeful play

Encourage patients to choose their therapy activity - then we make it therapeutic! Whether they choose a puzzle, drawing, crafts, video games, or soccer, I assure you we can make it a therapeutic intervention that will benefit them in the long run. Used with pediatric patients only.
